Why are hospitals embracing object storage?
Often healthcare organizations are the primary targets of ransomware attacks so object storage is a perfect fit for incorruptable backups. Object is also cheap to scale, and great for storing legacy data securely. Pooling data into a data lake is also a use case that can then apply AI to it and improve workflow judgement. Modernization exercise in many hospitals means they can then take advantage of object storage at a massively competitive price point. Again, number crunching and medical research made possible with object storage. Finally, object storage doesn’t need to be held on-site in the hospital so it’s great at supporting the secure transport of data.
